This book would make a wonderful gift!
This collection of photographs of Saddleworth is the work of the authors' father Colin Fox (1926-2004), who was a resident of Saddleworth almost throughout his life, living in both Uppermill and Greenfield. It is fortunate that Colin was most active in pursuing his hobby of taking photographs in the district between the mid-1950's and the mid-1960's, as this was a time very few others were doing likewise.
He possessed the foresight to direct his camera at those ordinary, everyday locations and events that typify a period but so often go unrecorded, and it is in this that the true value of his pictures, as historical and social records, lies.
A wonderful and unique recollection of Saddleworth's bygone past in quality mages, over 50 pages, accompanied by fascinating words from the authors (his sons Michael and Peter Fox).
